Brief overview of what I have done...

Born in 1960 I started work as a Refrigeration and Domestic appliance apprentice at the age of 16. I remained working for the same people despite several buy outs by larger Company. As a young qualified engineer I decided to go on an extended holiday to America with my girlfriend to visit her school and family friends. We enjoyed the way of life and area so much we decided to stay and make a new life in the sun. We returned to England some 18mths later where I again took up work in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning trade.

After returning to the UK we decided to buy a house in Nailsea. Our families lived here and it is where I grew up and went to school. Shortly after moving in to our new home we became the proud parents of our first child a girl in 1985 a followed by a boy in a 1988.

Following redundancy in 2009 I went down the self-employment route but decided after two years it wasn’t right for me. I currently work in the field of Energy specialising in the area of Smart Grid Technology. My knowledge of Refrigeration and electrical control provides an additional skill that was not present before I joined.

Why I want to join...

Over the last few years I have been lucky enough to know several Masons. Everyone I have met is friendly and keen to help out. Friendships developed and I wanted to know more about the Freemasons and what they are about. Knowing nothing about Freemason I was a bit hesitant at first, it took a couple of years to accept an invitation to join Eldon Lodge. I am convinced that our social lives will develop as I get to know members and their families and become more involved. It will also be a great opportunity to work with others and develop new skills.

Regards,

As an existing Master Mason and member of one of the oldest lodges in England, when searching for a local lodge to join it needed to be one that could offer a distinct history.

Living only 400m from the site of their old home on the quayside at Portishead docks, and with its unique maritime past and exclusive workings, Eldon seemed to be the natural choice. As a visitor I was made to feel extremely welcome and soon knew I had made the right choice and now as a member look forward to many enjoyable years practicing at 1755.

Kind Regards,
